A new empire began in India with the arrival of the Mughal king Babur. Except for the brief reign of Sher Shah of the Sur dynasty, Mughal rule lasted from 1526 to 1707 CE. In these years the fame of the Great Mughals spread all over Asia and Europe. After six Great Mughal Emperors, the empire began to disintegrate.
